Summary

Make the two bindings source roots explicit without changing the distribution name or Python namespace. Both build cuda-bindings / cuda.bindings, in separate environments.

• Record package paths, current/maintenance roles, toolkit pins, and the supported Python matrix in ci/versions.yml.
• Keep standard setuptools-scm parsing and per-line tag selection. Where the copied maintenance history lacks a reachable version anchor, create only a local preview tag in a disposable checkout; retained appropriate tags take precedence.
• Select the matching standalone cuda-python metapackage and validate registry, packaging, toolkit, Pixi, and Core-floor agreement.
• Add registry-specific checks and matching developer environments; basic CUDA 12 repository-hook coverage is introduced in cuda.bindings: integrate CUDA 12 source with shared build tooling #3173.

The small private CI helper package shares parsing and declares its dependencies. It is not shipped in a CUDA Python runtime wheel; release jobs keep these control helpers separate from tagged package sources.

The eight PRs are review boundaries for one change. #3182 contains the final integrated source state; earlier integrated validation is recorded in #3178. The stack is rebased onto main dfad7e3658a9. Full hosted CI has not been rerun after this rebase.

Validation

Configuration, SCM, release-selection, and metadata regressions pass as part of the combined 422-test CI-tool suite (55 subtests). Independent packaging rehearsals built beta/RC and final metapackage sdists and wheels for both majors, including rebuilding outside Git without version overrides.
