ASceneWrapper.writeToFile and WholeProgramInferenceScenesStorage.getScene
built a UserError from e.getMessage(), which for many IOExceptions is just
a file name, and discarded the cause chain. Pass the exception instead.

Add constructors UserError(String, Throwable) and UserError(Throwable, String, Object...). Without them, new UserError(message, throwable)
resolved to the varargs constructor UserError(String, Object...), which
discarded the throwable and treated the message as a format string; a message
containing a percent sign therefore threw an exception from String.format
rather than reporting the user error. Several existing call sites, such as
WholeProgramInferenceScenesStorage.writeScenes and
DOTCFGVisualizer.visualize, now record their cause.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change adds cause-aware UserError constructors and tests their overload behavior. I/O handling in whole-program inference and scene writing now preserves caught exceptions as causes. SourceChecker.logUserError now prints the full cause chain using the configured exception separator or the system line separator.

Priority: ⬇️ Low

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to dca56

Cause-chain logging improves I/O error diagnostics, but a valueless exceptionLineSeparator option can make error reporting fail and hide the original user error. Add a null fallback before merging.

* SourceChecker.logUserError now prints the cause chain, so a cause
attached to a UserError is no longer discarded on paths that catch
  UserError (such as typeProcess).
* Document that a lone Throwable vararg selects UserError(String,
Throwable), so the format string is used literally.
* Do not put the exception's toString() in the WPI read/write messages;
it duplicated the file name and leaked a JVM class name.

javac maps an option supplied without a value to null, so
Map.getOrDefault returned null and StringJoiner threw a
NullPointerException while logging an error.
