This repository contains data and post-processing analysis for a 2D numerical model of subduction. The focus of this analysis is to calculate the vertically integrated horizontal force balance.
GMT shell scripts for geophysical mapping of the Philippine Sea Basin: focal-mechanism beachballs (psmeca) from Global CMT and ISC catalogues, plate-velocity vectors (psvelo), geoid (EGM2008) and geology over GEBCO relief, with tectonic plate boundaries and trenches. Figures for Lemenkova, Romanian Reports in Physics 2022, 74(3):707.
Supplementary materials accompanying the publication: Gorojovsky & Wood (2026) "Solubility and speciation of sulfur under crustal conditions" EPSL
Over 35 GMT (Generic Mapping Tools) shell scripts producing regional geological and tectonic setting maps: relief basemaps overlaid with trenches, ridges, transform and fracture zones, ophiolites, volcanoes, LIPs, GSFML magnetic lineations, subducting-slab contours and plate-motion vectors, with fault/plate labels and legends.
LaTeX source for the article 'Correlations between the Topography-Induced Gravity, Terrain Structure and the Seismicity in the Gulf of Panama' (Lemenkova & Debeir, Environmental Research, Engineering and Management 2023, 79(2):64-76). GMT mapping of geoid, free-air gravity, topography and IRIS seismicity.
GMT (Generic Mapping Tools) shell script drawing a global tectonic map: plate boundaries (PB2002) with rotation poles and boundary steps, GSFML seafloor fabric (fracture zones, magnetic lineation picks) and subducting-slab depth contours, on an Eckert IV equal-area projection centred on the Pacific.
GMT (Generic Mapping Tools) shell scripts for seismic and geophysical mapping of Ecuador: topography, geoid, free-air gravity and its gradient, and seismicity (earthquake epicentres), from GEBCO/SRTM, EGM2008 and earthquake catalogue data. Figures for Lemenkova, Geografie 2022, 127(3):195-218.
Our addition of earthquake processes to LaMEM (Lithosphere and Mantle Evolution Model), a 3D parallel code to simulate geodynamic and geomechanical processes, as developed by e.g., Anton Popov and Boris Kaus.
LaTeX source for the article 'Seismic Moment Tensor Solutions for Geophysical Mapping of the Philippine Sea Basin by GMT' (Lemenkova, Romanian Reports in Physics 2022, 74(3):707). GMT mapping of focal mechanisms (psmeca/psvelo) from CMT and ISC seismic data.
Interactive map of Earth's tectonic plates from real data — boundaries, earthquakes, volcanoes, cross-sections, and a 50 Myr reconstruction clock — plus PhET-style crust and plate-motion screens.
