As wonder-driven computer people, we use computers to understand the world and learn as much as we can. A lot of people do not understand what we do. Even other wonder-driven people :( So, we want to explain what we do!
We play an important part in making it possible for other wonder-driven people to discover more about us and the world we live in. To start that conversation, we first need to have the words to explain what we do in a way that anyone can follow and ask questions. A big part of this is helping them understand how being wonder-driven changes the way we work with computers, and how that makes us different from other computer people. And by anyone, we mean everyone - from the not computer people we work with, those that give wonder-driven people the money to discover more about the world, our families, or anyone we meet on the street.
This is to help us think more simply and clearly about what we do and how we do it (while having lots of fun!) One way is to use it when talking to children or people that do not work in the same area as us. The are many other ways it can be used. All we need to do is to imagine!
If you have thought of an interesting way to use it, let us know! If you suggest it on this, we can see how we could add it. We are always looking for ways to make it better.
If you would like to help make this better, you can add a new way to explain your job or important things to explain to help people. If you find something you don't agree with, you can also suggest a change. Check this out to find out more about making this better.
We want as many people to add to this so that it what we all think, not just what one person thinks. Each page also allows you to put {{< fa thumbs-up >}} or {{< fa thumbs-down >}} and to leave what you think.
Thing to check if you can explain a hard idea using only the ten hundred most used words by typing in a box: https://xkcd.com/simplewriter/
The things in this store of steps, to control a computer, can be used by other people using the CC BY 4.0 way of sharing. This lets you share, use again, and change these things as you would like, as long as you keep our names and don't get us in trouble if this isn't quite right.
This was made at CW26, an often exciting and sometimes fun meeting bringing many different people to have interesting conversations to change the world and themselves. The people who have helped make this are:
