Simple DjIA v0.1

Complete open-source subproject inside PythonProjects for context-aware human-centered music programming on Linux/open platforms.

Ready product

• contextual behaviors: restaurant pianist, mega-party DJ, calm connection and focus background
• explicit, inspectable human musical criteria instead of opaque recommendations
• track scoring by BPM, energy, valence, acousticness, danceability, vocal presence, familiarity and tags
• artist diversity and gradual transition sequencing
• local JSON music library
• command-line interface
• Tkinter desktop interface with playlist creation, selected-track playback, next and stop controls
• playback through open tools: MPV, VLC/cvlc or ffplay
• zero runtime Python dependencies outside the standard library

Human boundary

The calm_connection behavior is inspired by attentive listening and human connection. The software explicitly does not claim to provide or replace clinical music therapy.

Validation performed

Local Linux validation completed successfully:

• CPython 3.13.5
• Tk 8.6 import: PASS
• compileall: PASS
• unit tests: 9 passed
• CLI smoke test: PASS
• open-player discovery: PASS (ffplay detected in the validation environment)
• editable package install: PASS with build isolation disabled in the network-isolated development runner
• source parsed successfully against Python 3.10, 3.11, 3.12 and 3.13 grammar compatibility modes

GitHub-hosted runner note

The committed Ubuntu matrix covers Python 3.10–3.13. GitHub created the matrix jobs during this session, but the API reported them failed before exposing any executed steps or log blob. This is recorded as a hosted-runner/account execution issue rather than presented as a passing CI result. The workflow remains available for normal execution when hosted runners are available.

The old root Python application workflow is isolated from SimpleDjIA-only changes so unrelated historical experiments do not contaminate this subproject's checks.
