Document CI and the PR-based release flow; add Dependabot for Actions - #69
Conversation
…ot for Actions main now requires the CI build to pass, with no bypass, so release commits go through a pull request too. Replace the four-line release section (which claimed a GitHub Action publishes releases; none does) with the actual steps, and describe what CI builds and how to read a failure. Dependabot keeps the actions in the workflow current; Swift packages stay hand-pinned on purpose. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

GitHub repository rulesets required status checks direct push require pull request before merging rule docs
💡 Result:
To **require pull requests and block ordinary direct pushes** to a branch, create a repository ruleset targeting that branch and enable:
- **Require a pull request before merging** — changes to the target branch must go through a pull request. ([docs.github.com](https://docs.github.com/en/repositories/configuring-branches-and-merges-in-your-repository/managing-rulesets/available-rules-for-rulesets?utm_source=openai))
- **Require status checks to pass before merging** — add the check names you require; GitHub says the checks must pass before a pull request can merge. ([docs.github.com](https://docs.github.com/en/repositories/configuring-branches-and-merges-in-your-repository/managing-rulesets/creating-rulesets-for-a-repository?utm_source=openai))
**Watch the bypass list:** actors granted bypass can get around rules. If you want an actor to bypass branch protections *only through a PR*, GitHub’s ruleset setup offers **For pull requests only** for that bypass option. ([docs.github.com](https://docs.github.com/en/enterprise-cloud%40latest/organizations/managing-organization-settings/creating-rulesets-for-repositories-in-your-organization?utm_source=openai))

Do not claim that direct pushes to main are rejected.
The active main ruleset requires the CI check, but it does not require changes to go through a pull request. Keep the CI requirement and remove the direct-push guarantee.
🐛 Suggested fix
-4. Open a pull request. `main` is protected, so the release commits go through CI like any
- other change; direct pushes to `main` are rejected.
+4. Open a pull request. The active ruleset requires `Build app + tests (iOS device, unsigned)` to
+ pass before a pull request can merge.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Add the major-version rule.
These instructions assign new features to minor bumps, but SemVer requires a major bump for incompatible public-API changes. State that minor bumps apply to backward-compatible features and major bumps apply to incompatible changes. (semver.org)

What & why
Follow-up to #68.
mainnow requires the CI build to pass and has no bypass, so releases go through a pull request like every other change. This writes that down so the process is reproducible by any maintainer.project.yml, PR, then tag andgh release createafter the merge.ci(label created). Swift packages are intentionally excluded; they are hand-pinned inproject.ymlbecause several rewrite their API between releases. How it was tested
Docs and config only. This PR itself goes through the new required check.
