I'd suggest we punt on this one and add it separately later. Just to keep the COD MVP tight as we iterate. This would be something that can be handled in parallel.

Done. Removed COD spec.progressDeadlineMinutes and its deadline-specific reason, and regenerated the API artifacts. The spec now contains only the template; admission coverage verifies that the deferred deadline is pruned.

I wonder if we should nix Available for now and add it later (to keep the initial mvp tight)

Done. Removed the COD Available condition, its supporting reasons, and its kubectl column. The MVP retains Progressing and its rollout-progress reasons.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
Done. Removed status.activeRevisions and status.objectCounts, their supporting types, and their generated builders. Status now contains rollout conditions, with admission coverage verifying that the deferred summaries are pruned.
Define mutable deployment templates using existing ClusterObjectSet content types, without exposing controller-assigned revision fields or inheriting snapshot immutability. Keep the MVP status focused on Progressing. Validate names, phase content, and collision protection through the API server. Preserve omitted collision protection and verify that deferred template metadata, deadlines, and revision summary fields are pruned. Narrow the API reference type exclusions so required template phases and their content types remain documented. Generated artifacts follow in a separate commit. Controller and Helm installation wiring remain in their dedicated follow-up tasks. Regenerate DeepCopy methods, apply configurations, the experimental base CRD, and API reference documentation from the ClusterObjectDeployment types. Document required phases and remove deferred template metadata, deadline, revision summary, object count, and Available condition artifacts. Existing rendered install manifests retain their current API exposure; COD packaging belongs to OPRUN-4793. Remove duplicate apiVersion and kind rows from the generated resource tables.
The duplicate rows also occur in the existing ClusterCatalog and ClusterExtension tables. Update the generator configuration or type markers to emit one apiVersion row and one kind row for every root resource, then regenerate the API reference.

Fix the phase collisionProtection fallback path in the COD reference.
ClusterObjectSetPhase is now documented for ClusterObjectDeploymentTemplateSpec. The fallback text still points to .spec.collistionProtection. That path has a misspelling. For a ClusterObjectDeployment, the field is also not at that path. The phase default comes from .spec.template.spec.collisionProtection. The object-level description on Line 519 already uses neutral wording: "inherited from the phase, then spec".
Correct the comment on ClusterObjectSetPhase.CollisionProtection in api/v1/clusterobjectset_types.go. The text should not depend on one resource's field path. Then regenerate the CRDs and this reference.

- // explicitly specify its own collisionProtection.
+ // When omitted, the enclosing spec's collisionProtection is used as the default for any object in this
+ // phase that does not explicitly specify its own collisionProtection.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

The ClusterObjectDeployment controller does For(&ClusterObjectDeployment{})
and adds the type to the object-controller manager cache, but the CRD was
never rendered into the manifests: operator-framework#3018 added the base CRD file while the
templates/crds/*.yml wrappers that pull CRDs into the chart are hand-written,
and no wrapper existed for ClusterObjectDeployment. As a result the CRD was
absent from the deployed cluster, the manager could not start an informer for
it (ReaderFailOnMissingInformer: true), and the object-controller deployment
never became ready, timing out the experimental e2e jobs.
Add the Helm CRD wrapper (experimental channel only, mirroring
ClusterObjectSet) and regenerate the experimental manifests.

Lay the foundation for the ClusterObjectDeployment (COD) controller in the object-controller binary, following the ClusterObjectSet (COS) controller patterns. The COD API types were introduced in operator-framework#3018; this adds the controller that will reconcile ClusterObjectDeployment objects and own ClusterObjectSets. No reconciliation behavior is implemented yet. - Add ClusterObjectDeploymentReconciler with a no-op Reconcile and RBAC markers, gated by the experimental-only //go:build !standard tag. - SetupWithManager watches ClusterObjectDeployment and Owns ClusterObjectSet, plus a Watches mapping a ClusterObjectSet's spec.group to its owning ClusterObjectDeployment so not-yet-adopted (orphan) revisions are also surfaced. - Register the COD types in the object-controller scheme and wire the reconciler into the manager, adding ClusterObjectDeployment to the manager cache. - Ship the ClusterObjectDeployment CRD in the experimental manifests via a Helm CRD wrapper. The base CRD existed (from operator-framework#3018) but was never rendered into the chart, so the manager could not start an informer for the type (ReaderFailOnMissingInformer: true) and the object-controller deployment never became ready. The first commit contains the implementation and generator configuration; the second contains generated files.
Adds the experimental, cluster-scoped
ClusterObjectDeploymentAPI. Callers can update a mutable template while controllers create immutableClusterObjectSetrevisions. Templates reuse existing COS phases, inline objects, Secret references, and progression probes without exposing controller-assigned group, revision, or lifecycle fields.Admission validates required content, phase bounds and names, collision protection, and COD names. The MVP spec contains only the template content, and status contains only conditions, starting with
Progressing. Template metadata, deadlines,Available, active revision summaries, and object counts are deferred.Includes API-server admission tests, scheme registration, experimental CRD generator integration, and regenerated DeepCopy methods, apply configurations, and API reference docs. The reference includes the required template phases and their content types. A shared COS/COD spec refactor, controller implementation, and installation packaging remain follow-up work.
