Security fixes will be applied on the master branch first, and backported to stable branches later.
Report a vulnerability on GitHub or send a PGP-encrypted email to the co-maintainers. The PGP public keys can be found e.g. on keyserver.ubuntu.com. The PGP fingerprints (you can paste them into the search field of the keyserver) are:
