Connect Share: launch, measure, and grow through modpacks and creators

Human need

A useful mod does not spread by existing. Players must understand it instantly, trust it, install it where they already manage Minecraft, and naturally bring a friend.

Outcome

Connect Share launches through a staged, measurable program that earns modpack and creator adoption while optimizing successful shared play rather than vanity downloads.

Acceptance criteria

• Publish polished, consistent Modrinth, CurseForge, and GitHub pages with a sub-30-second demonstration of invite-to-world success.
• State the promise consistently: “Install once. See your friends. Join whatever they are playing. No server setup.”
• Document modpack redistribution, dependencies, privacy, security, support, and compatibility in plain language.
• Provide a creator/modpack kit with approved assets, short explanations, pack metadata, changelog feeds, and reproducible release links.
• Recruit a staged beta across vanilla-like play, major modpacks, offline profiles, different regions, and non-technical friend pairs.
• Establish a fast support and regression loop with secret-safe diagnostics and published known issues.
• Localize marketplace and core in-game journeys for the languages covering the largest reachable player populations.
• Offer privacy-preserving opt-in metrics for invite-to-join success, join time, route outcome, actionable recovery, repeat friend-pair sessions, crash-free sessions, and install source.
• Never collect friend graphs, invitation payloads, endpoint tokens, private keys, IPs, chat, world contents, or full mod inventories.
• Run creator and marketplace experiments only after reliability and fallback capacity gates pass.
• Define launch, pause, rollback, and graduation criteria before each rollout stage.

Product metric

Successful joins and retained friend pairs attributable to each installation source, modpack, creator cohort, and invite loop—not raw downloads alone.

Repository launch foundation completed in 20e439b: staged cohort gates with concrete graduate/pause/rollback criteria, default-off aggregate-only measurement schema and forbidden fields, marketplace/creator source copy and a sub-30-second demo storyboard, exact dependency/version metadata, modpack redistribution guidance, known-issues/support contract, and localization release order. This issue remains open for external visual assets/video, marketplace publication, locale translation/review, consent endpoint/UI, beta recruitment/support staffing, cohort execution, and measured graduation evidence.

The open discovery funnel is now specified in the public Connect Discover epic: #121.

It supplies a single owner-verified, opt-in directory to the mod, Connect website, Browser Hub, and third-party API consumers. Creator launch/growth work here should measure discovery-to-successful-join outcomes against that canonical source rather than introducing another listing catalog.
