We can't seem to reproduce your problem. Can you verify if you're installing from within VS code itself?

I wonder if there's some bug in the signature verification in VS code. Can you try this with the VS code stable version?

I have identified the issue and its solution. The problem was caused by the VS Code Insiders version; I resolved it by first updating VS Code Insider, following wreiske's suggestion and then updating the extension.
