I have no plans for libmir.org
Fill free to get it or host docs on another placeI'm not that knowledgeable about web hosting. Do you still control the domain? If it's not that expensive to do or difficult to figure it out, I could take it over for a few years.
I just checked the renewal cost, it is $40/year: probably don't worth it. I can check if I can transfer it. Probably Gandi.net blocked the website name acquisition for a while.
Maybe GitHub Pages is a simpler option than an AWS hosting.
hello, I'm interested in mir library recently and saw this issue while trying to read the doc. here I built the doc website from master and use the config n assets in https://github.com/libmir/circle-dlang then uploaded to cloudflare workers:
- url using my personal domain: https://algorithm.libmir.ray.works
- backup one if the prev link doesnt work: https://mir-algorithm.vonhyou.workers.dev
just fyi cloudflare workers offer free and unlimited hosting for static assets,12 github pages should be the same but not sure if it needs a paid plan for orgnizations. plus renewing
.orgdomain name on registrars like https://porkbun.com/ or cloudflare costs abt US$10 per year (I checked similar domain name likelibmor.org, but not sure if libmir use premium price). lastly, abt CI, cf workers seems to support circle-ci3 but i didnt try.if you dont want to mess with those kind of things id like to offer help maybe later this week.
ps: im not affiliated to any of those companies, just my personal choice
best.
Footnotes
@vonhyou Thanks for this. I'm not that knowledgeable about web hosting myself. I haven't had a lot of free time lately, but I had asked ChatGPT about what it recommended (link here), which was about as far as I had gotten. Not sure if any of this is consistent with what you were thinking.
If it comes down to paying something like $10 per year to keep the documentation page running, then I'm happy to cover that cost. I'm sure there would be some logistics associated with that, if it came to it.
@jmh530 i skimmed the chat history, most things are covered but few details i want to add:
- as for the domain name, i saw on the whois record that it was renewed on 2026-03-23 by the current owner with gandi.net. 1
- for generating the doc website, the current way in the organizations seems to use a custom circle ci pipeline 234. no matter where to host the website in the future (github pages, cloudflare worker, vercel, etc), the pipeline needs to be modified.
- i found gpt made the deploymet part overcomplicated for this use case. using a separate repo, or a certain branch, or a certain folder in a branch is the old way github pages handles deployment, now it's much simpler.
- set up custom domain names (mir-algorithm.libmir.org or <anything_you_like>.libmir.org) requires DNS records (needs to be set by the owner) and libmir/mir-algorithm/settings/pages (if you choose github pages)
- set up routes seems to be quite limited on github pages. use cloudflare etc is much easier to configure something like
libmir.org/algorithm,libmir.org/core,libmir.org/ioninstead of subdomains
ps: im not a web dev either, those are just from my limited personal experience from hosting static sites in the past. and imho cloudflare is the simplest and easiest way to achieve the goal, it can manage domain name, add dns records automatically, handle different ways of routing and many others.

one more thing to add is that the final price of a .org domain name is decided by the registrars and transferring to other ones can lower the cost to about 10~12 USD per year. usually registrars (like gandi, cloudflare, porkbun, etc. ) set the price based on the wholesale price (for .org, Public Interest Registry) + admin fee (ICANN) + whatever they want. you can check https://tld-list.com/tld/org for more info. ↩

Reacted by Ilia Ki@vonhyou @jmh530 Thank you for you help on this issue. A cheaper or a free solution if possible look more reliable to me. I don't think we have a lot of users to care about the domain name.
static site are absolutely find for webdocs. more complicated thing is how the docs are generated. The CI and documentation generation has been outdated for a long time.
hi @jmh530 as @9il mentioned, the circle ci pipeline and the github workflow has been broken for a long time (the
test_and_build_docspart in https://app.circleci.com/pipelines/github/libmir/mir-algorithm/1792/workflows/52c80f89-b9e2-4bb5-b53e-294e43328791/jobs/2840) so first thing first, that needs to be fixed, and then building the static website based on that and uploading it to whether gitHub pages or cloudflare are relatively trivial tasks.or, for now just build the doc with flag
with_test=falsetemporarily, which can be relatively faster to get everything up and running.Reacted by jmh530
