Krister Axel — Support Engineer

I'm the person who takes the ticket nobody else can close, finds the actual cause, and then ships the fix.

Two decades as a lead and founding engineer — shipping production web systems, migrating databases, owning architecture end to end. Right now I'm on the support front line, running Tier 1/2 escalations and hacking in to the ERP system. I can read the stack trace, open the database, and still explain the outcome to a frustrated customer in plain language.

Based in Ashland, OR. Open to support engineering, escalation engineering, and solutions/technical-account roles. 🌐 axel.me · 📄 LinkedIn

What I bring that a career support tech usually doesn't

  • Root-cause instead of workaround. Founding-engineer habits mean I don't stop at "restart it" — I find the defect, write it up so engineering can act on it, and often patch it myself.
  • I read and write code. Ruby, Python, JavaScript. I automate the repetitive parts of the queue rather than grinding through them.
  • Database fluency. SQL across Postgres, MS SQL, Oracle, and MySQL — I answer data questions directly instead of escalating them.
  • Technical chops. Architecture, deploys, and production troubleshooting across Linux, macOS, and Windows, plus M365/Entra, AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Dependable communication. Twenty years of writing — documentation, runbooks, and published prose — means my ticket notes and customer replies are crystal clear.
