Second half of #1712: the notification type for followed hashtags, main type 23 in enotify. The follow surfaces are #1715. The daemon that emits these lands in enotify after both client PRs are released, so this is the contract it will implement.

The type

Wire type tags on the websocket and the API, tag in push payloads (push uses the singular vocabulary, as favorite/favorites do). Two shapes share it:

source carries opens
one post carrying the tag the post's author author, permlink, title, img_url, tags (every followed tag it matched; the first is shown) the post, by its author
hourly bundle for a busy tag ecency tag, count, up to three latest posts (API) /created/<tag>

The two shapes are typed as a discriminated union (permlink versus count); a post has no singular tag, a bundle has no tags. The shown tag is held to its on-chain shape (^[a-z0-9-]{1,32}$) before it enters a URL, so a forged payload cannot route beyond a tag feed.

Changes

  • @ecency/sdk: NotifyTypes.TAGS = 23 in ALL_NOTIFY_TYPES, so a device registers for it; NotificationFilter.TAGS = "tags"; WsTagsNotification and ApiTagsNotification in the unions.
  • Web enums and entities: the same additions in the app's own copies.
  • Websocket: getBody (single post vs bundle text), getLink (post by source, bundle to the tag feed, forged tag refused), getNotificationType (the settings toggle gate).
  • Push: buildPushNotificationUrl and the service worker copy handle tag; the shared fixture gains the single-post, bundle, forged-tag and missing-tag cases, so both copies are held to the same answers.
  • Row renderer NotificationTagsType: a single post names the author and links the post; a bundle names the tag and links its feed. Registered in the list item and in the known-types list; tags rows get the post thumbnail.
  • Settings: the Tags toggle in the notifications dropdown. Filter tab: from the enum. Decks: a Tags notification column, self-only like favorites and bookmarks.
  • i18n: notification.tags, notification.tags-bundle (plural forms), notifications.type-tags, notifications.tags-str, notifications.tags-bundle-str, notifications.tags-bundle-link, decks.columns.tags.

Cross-package note

The web passes its NotificationFilter into SDK-typed parameters, so typecheck stays red on this PR until the SDK version label runs the changeset bot and rebuilds dist on the branch (the same as #1218 and #1229). No dist is committed here.

Tests

notifications-ws-link.spec.ts (post by source, bundle to feed, forged tags refused), notifications-ws-notify-type-mapping.spec.ts (tags maps to its toggle), push-notification-link-cases.ts (five new cases, run against both the builder and the shipped worker), notification-tags-type.spec.tsx (both row shapes). 593 tests green across specs/api, the deck row spec and the i18n guard; SDK typecheck, lint and the icon audit clean.

enotify main type 23, wire type "tags" over websocket and API, "tag" in
push payloads. Two shapes share it: one post, where source is its author
and permlink is set, and an hourly bundle for a busy tag, where source is
"ecency" and count is set. Both routing tables send a single post to its
author and a bundle to /created/<tag>, with the tag held to its on-chain
shape so a forged payload cannot route beyond a tag feed.

SDK: NotifyTypes.TAGS in ALL_NOTIFY_TYPES (so a device registers for it),
NotificationFilter.TAGS, and the Ws/Api types. Web: its own enum and
entity copies, getBody/getLink/getNotificationType, the push link builder
and the service worker copy with the shared fixture, a row renderer, the
settings toggle, the filter tab, the deck column (self-only), and i18n.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 4cbf9

This change adds followed-tag notifications across websocket, push, and notification surfaces, but bundled notifications currently fail to open their tag feed because the WebSocket link handler reads the wrong payload field. Merge should wait for that localized correctness fix; producer-side account-scoping should also remain an explicit follow-up before rollout.

A rabbit found tags in the morning dew
And wired each path where the hashtags grew
Posts hop to authors, bundles to feeds
Safe shapes guard every link it needs
The notification burrow now knows what to do

High-Level Assessment

The following are alternative approaches to this PR:

1. Generate service-worker routing from shared source
  • ➕ Eliminates drift between the TypeScript builder and deployed service worker
  • ➕ Centralizes tag validation and fallback behavior
  • ➖ Requires service-worker build and deployment pipeline changes
  • ➖ Expands this feature PR into a broader infrastructure refactor
  • ➖ Could complicate support for the worker's plain JavaScript runtime

Recommendation: Keep the current implementation for this PR. The independently shipped service worker requires equivalent plain JavaScript behavior, and the shared test fixture provides practical parity protection. Generating both routers from one source is worth considering separately if more push-specific notification types are added.

Action required

1. tag bypasses route validation ✓ Resolved 📎 Requirement gap ⛨ Security
Description
NotificationTagsType interpolates the API-provided tag directly into bundle feed and fallback
entry URLs, allowing malformed values such as ../evil, a/b, a?x=1, or ../@user to escape the
intended /created/ route. This bypasses the strict tag-shape validation used by websocket and push
routing and can navigate to unintended application routes.
Code

apps/web/src/features/shared/notifications/notification-types/notification-tags-type.tsx[43]

+            href={`/created/${tag}`}
Evidence
Rule 6 requires tag bundles to route safely to a tag feed, but API results are passed into
NotificationListItem and the bundle branch selected when permlink is absent constructs its
href directly from notification.tag without runtime validation; the API type only documents
normalization. The push fixtures classify values such as ../evil and a/b as forged and require a
safe fallback, while both websocket and push handlers validate tags against the documented lowercase
alphanumeric-and-hyphen shape before constructing feed URLs.

## Issue description
Validate notification `tag` values against `^[a-z0-9-]{1,32}$` before using them in bundle feed or per-post fallback entry URLs. Invalid tags must not be interpolated into application routes; omit or disable the link, or render a safe fallback consistent with existing notification-link behavior.
## Issue Context
`NotificationTagsType` currently trusts the runtime API payload even though the API type's normalization documentation provides no runtime enforcement. Websocket and push routing already reject malformed tags using the strict on-chain tag policy, so apply the equivalent validation to bundle links and the per-post category fallback; where practical, centralize validation so all routing paths share the same policy.

2. Deck tag links do nothing ✓ Resolved 🐞 Bug ≡ Correctness
Description
Per-post tag rows render a bare anchor whenever the deck supplies onLinkClick, but the deck
callback has no tags case, so clicking the post performs no navigation. This makes every per-post
notification in the new Tags deck column unusable.
Code

apps/web/src/features/shared/notifications/notification-types/notification-tags-type.tsx[R62-65]

+ {!!onLinkClick ? (
+ <a
+ className="post-link"
+ role="button"
Evidence
NotificationListItem passes the deck callback into the new renderer, which chooses the
callback-only anchor branch. The deck callback's switch omits tags, whereas handled entry types
explicitly fetch and display the selected entry.

apps/web/src/features/shared/notifications/notification-list-item.tsx[255-262]
apps/web/src/features/shared/notifications/notification-types/notification-tags-type.tsx[62-83]
apps/web/src/app/decks/_components/columns/deck-notifications-column.tsx[179-220]
apps/web/src/entities/ws-notifications.ts[394-403]

Agent prompt
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution

## Issue description
Per-post tag notifications use the deck callback instead of `EntryLink`, but the deck callback does not handle the `tags` type, so clicking them does nothing.
## Issue Context
Add tag notifications to the deck's entry-opening path. Since `ApiTagsNotification.author` is optional while the contract identifies the post author through `source`, resolve the author as `author ?? source` before fetching the entry.
## Fix Focus Areas
- apps/web/src/features/shared/notifications/notification-types/notification-tags-type.tsx[62-83]

P1 Badge Update the exact self-only notification expectation

Adding tags here makes every full web test run fail: apps/web/src/specs/app/decks/notification-content-types.spec.ts asserts that the sorted SELF_ONLY_NOTIFICATION_CONTENT_TYPES array contains exactly nbookmarks, nfavorites, and scheduled_published, while the Vitest configuration includes that spec. Update the assertion alongside this new self-only type.

P2 Badge Handle tag posts in the deck click switch

When this component is rendered in the newly offered Tags deck column, onLinkClick is always supplied, so a per-post row renders this callback-only anchor instead of an EntryLink. The callback in deck-notifications-column.tsx has no case "tags" and falls through to default, making clicks and keyboard activation on tag post titles no-ops; add tag post fetching there or let this path navigate normally.

P2 Badge Validate the tag before building the bundle link

For a malformed or forged API notification, tag is runtime-unvalidated and interpolated directly into the link, unlike the websocket and push paths added by this commit. A value such as ../evil produces /created/../evil, which resolves outside the tag feed, defeating the stated restriction that notification tags cannot route beyond /created/<tag>; apply the same tag-shape check before rendering a navigable URL.

Fixed in cc8a65f, together with Qodo's same finding: the row validates the tag against the on-chain shape before it reaches a URL.

…n decks

Review round 1. The row interpolated the API tag into the bundle link and
the entry category unchecked, while the websocket and push routers refuse a
malformed one; the row now holds it to the same shape and shows a bad tag as
text with no link. The deck column's click switch had no tags case, so a
post in the new Tags column opened nothing; it now fetches and shows the
post like the other entry types. The deck self-only list spec pins tags.
… carry tags[]

Review round 2. The producer design lists every followed tag a post matched
in `tags`, while the client read a singular `tag` on both shapes and would
have shown an empty hashtag for a post. Both are now the contract: a post
row carries `tags` plus `tag` (the first, the one to show), a bundle row
carries `tag` and `count`, typed as a discriminated union on the SDK and
the web copy. The body text and the row derive the shown tag from `tag`
with `tags[0]` as the fallback, so a row without one never renders empty.
…arries tag

Review round 3. The post shape no longer requires a singular tag the raw
activity never carries: it lists every followed tag it matched in tags,
with the post's author, and shows the first; the bundle names its one tag.
Both copies of the union, the body text and the row follow that.

with accessible link-role queries, using getByRole or queryByRole as appropriate
for each assertion. Preserve the existing href and absence checks while testing
the mocked anchor’s user-visible link behavior.

…er field

A bundle names its tag in `tag`; reading `tags[0]` as well mirrors the body
text, so both shapes open the tag feed.
…cked

Review round 4. The declared types say string, the wire may not: RegExp.test
coerces, so a numeric tag became /created/123, and a bare string in the list
field was indexed into its first letter. notificationTag reads the field
with typeof and Array.isArray checks and holds it to the on-chain shape; the
row, the websocket body text and the link builder all go through it.
