Daniel Plötzl

42 Vienna graduate (Common Core, April 2024 - June 2026), now in the 42 Mastery programme specialising in DevOps & Infrastructure and Cybersecurity. 42 Vienna is part of the 42 Network, the world's largest IT school network (50+ campuses, 30+ countries), ranked 3rd in the 2026 WURI innovation ranking ahead of MIT (5th) and Stanford (7th) on that list.

Hands-on experience with process lifecycle manipulation, ephemeral execution environments and forensic visibility analysis, session-level exploitation, endpoint simulation and detection analysis in controlled environments - alongside Linux systems administration, virtualisation and containerisation from project-based coursework.

Core Areas

  • System exploitation and session control mechanisms: setsid, process groups, signal handling
  • Ephemeral execution: runtime isolation and persistence boundaries in volatile memory environments
  • X11 internals: window manager bypass, input grabbing, session takeover
  • USB HID simulation: user input emulation and endpoint testing
  • Linux systems administration: partitioning, user and permission management, service hardening, cron-based monitoring

Current Focus

  • 42 Mastery: Inception-of-Things (Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD pipeline) and Cloud-1 (cloud server infrastructure)
  • Self-directed infrastructure lab: KVM/libvirt, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes (k3s), Prometheus/Grafana, GitLab CI/CD
  • Penetration testing fundamentals through system-level experimentation
  • Developing offensive security labs in controlled environments
