I'm a software developer from Northern California with a background spanning cybersecurity, intelligence gathering, data science, geospatial technology, systems programming, and web development.
I got into cybersecurity as a teenager, where I developed an early interest in reverse engineering video games, penetration testing, and understanding how software works beneath the surface. That led me to C and Python, and eventually into a decade-plus of building software across a wide range of languages, frameworks, and platforms.
I've been working with C and Python for ~15 years, and JavaScript and web technologies for ~12 years, with additional experience in Java, C#, and other languages. I enjoy learning new technologies, but I'm especially interested in understanding the systems underneath them-not just the abstractions built on top.
Early in my career, I was contracted by a professor at California State University, Chico to develop a high-level, internally used Japanese language-learning platform. That project is still evolving today.
More recently, I spent several years in the fire and emergency technology industry, working with companies including DigitalPath and ALERTWest on software and technology supporting large-scale wildfire detection and situational awareness. That experience pushed me deeper into distributed systems, accelerated-computing, cloud-computing, geospatial technology, computer vision, and real-world data processing.
Outside of traditional software development, I enjoy game development and simulation. I've worked extensively with Unreal Engine 3/4/5 and Godot, and I regularly experiment with technologies such as Three.js, WebGPU, and GPU-accelerated visualization.
Today, I'm focused on exploring the intersection of software engineering, AI, geospatial systems, and automation - particularly the opportunities emerging from the current GenAI revolution.
I'm always building something, taking something apart, or trying to figure out how it works.
