Summary

  • Manifest: public/manifest.webmanifest with display: standalone. start_url and scope are ./, so it works under the GitHub Pages sub-path.
    • Icons: 192 and 512 PNGs, the 512 one also listed as maskable, plus a 180 apple-touch-icon.png. All are rendered from the new public/app-icon.svg: the favicon's home plate on a full-bleed background, inside the 40% maskable safe circle.
    • index.html links the manifest and the apple touch icon, and sets apple-mobile-web-app-title.
  • Install button: the footer shows an "Add to home screen" button when the browser offers installation.
    • beforeinstallprompt is kept from module load; clicking the button opens the browser's dialog.
    • On iOS, where no such event exists, the footer explains Share → Add to Home Screen instead.
    • Nothing is shown when the site is already open from the home screen.
  • iOS status bar: with black-translucent, an iOS home-screen launch draws the page under the status bar, so the navbar gets safe-area-inset-top padding.
  • No service worker, on purpose: an offline-cached old index.html would make the stale-chunk white screens fixed in Stop white screens after a deploy, and show rained-out games' scores #11 more likely. The existing offline banner covers losing the network.
  • Version 1.12.0, with changelog and TODO Phase 45.

Verification

  • Chromium's Page.getInstallabilityErrors on the production build (vite preview, persistent profile) returns no errors, and the manifest parses with no errors.
  • npm test: 421 pass (4 new). The new tests cover the install button appearing on the event, prompting once and then hiding, the iOS hint, and iPadOS-as-Mac detection.
  • build, lint (0 errors)

A web app manifest with 192/512 (maskable) icons and an apple-touch-icon,
an "Add to home screen" button in the footer where the browser offers
it and share-menu steps on iOS, and safe-area padding under the iOS
status bar. Version 1.12.0.
