SLINT Tech is a community of learners. Many of our members are young — membership starts at age 7 — and this Code of Conduct exists so that every one of them can learn in safety.
It applies to all SLINT Tech spaces: GitHub repositories, issues, pull requests, discussions, chat channels, meetings, classes, and events, online and in person. It applies to members, leaders, instructors, board members, and anyone else taking part.
This document restates, for our public spaces, the standards set out in Article V of the SLINT Tech Constitution.
Every person in a SLINT Tech space is expected to:
- Act with integrity. Be honest, be transparent, and do not misrepresent your work or others'.
- Foster unity. Collaborate respectfully. Disagree with ideas, never with people.
- Practise selflessness. Help others learn. Share what you know. Credit contributions honestly.
- Respect everyone, regardless of background, age, gender, ability, tribe, faith, or experience.
- Be patient with beginners. Someone asking a basic question is exactly who we exist for.
The following are prohibited:
- Harassment, discrimination, or abuse of any kind, including sexual language or imagery, unwelcome attention, stalking, or intimidation.
- Insults, personal attacks, or demeaning comments — including toward beginners.
- Publishing another person's private information without their explicit permission.
- Fraud, embezzlement, or misuse of SLINT Tech funds, name, resources, or identity.
- Using SLINT Tech's name or credentials to deceive individuals, businesses, or other entities.
- Sharing access to partner learning platforms with people who are not entitled to it.
- Disclosing confidential organizational information without authorization.
- Conduct that sows division within the community or damages SLINT Tech's reputation.
Because our community includes minors, any behaviour that puts a young member at risk is treated as the most serious category of violation and is escalated immediately.
Report a concern to conduct@slinttech.org or, if that address does not reach you, admin@slinttech.org.
Reports are handled confidentially. You may report anonymously, though it limits our ability to follow up with you. You will not be penalised for reporting in good faith — under our Constitution, failing to report observed misconduct is itself a disciplinary matter.
For anything involving a minor's safety, mark your message URGENT in the subject line.
The Board investigates reports and decides on action. Depending on severity, consequences include:
- Private warning — a written explanation of the violation and expected change.
- Temporary suspension — loss of access to SLINT Tech repositories, platforms, and activities.
- Removal from a leadership role — required for any leader who promotes division, and permanent bar from future leadership roles.
- Expulsion — permanent removal from the organization. Mandatory for embezzlement or for fraudulent use of SLINT Tech's identity.
- Legal action and restitution — for fraud or embezzlement, misused funds must be repaid, with additional penalties as set out in the Constitution, and SLINT Tech may pursue legal remedies under Ghanaian law.
Anyone subject to disciplinary action may appeal in writing to the Board within fourteen (14) days of being notified. The Board's decision on appeal is final, subject to the Founder's authority as final arbiter under Article IV of the Constitution.
