Redop Agent Skill

Portable Agent Skill for understanding, building, debugging, and extending MCP servers with Redop.

Install

Install the skill package with the skills CLI:

bunx skills add redopjs/skills

After installation, compatible agents can use $redop to answer Redop framework questions and help with implementation.

What This Skill Covers

The Redop skill teaches agents:

  • what Redop is and when to choose it
  • the Redop mental model and explicit composition style
  • tools, resources, and prompts
  • middleware, hooks, and request lifecycle behavior
  • plugins and typed request context
  • HTTP vs stdio transports
  • create-redop-app and install-vs-scaffold decisions
  • portable example patterns for building Redop servers

Included References

  • foundations.md: framework overview, mental model, request context, and when to use Redop
  • surfaces.md: tools, resources, prompts, schemas, annotations, and handler contracts
  • runtime.md: request lifecycle, middleware, hooks, errors, and post-response behavior
  • composition.md: feature modules, plugins, typed context, and built-in helpers
  • transports.md: listen() behavior, HTTP vs stdio, /mcp, and transport caveats
  • scaffolding.md: create-redop-app, starter choices, and install-vs-scaffold guidance
  • examples.md: portable examples and optional deeper verification pointers

Example Prompts

Use prompts like:

Use $redop to explain when something should be a tool, a resource, or a prompt.
Use $redop to help me build a Redop server with Zod input and HTTP transport.
Use $redop to explain Redop's request lifecycle and where middleware vs hooks fit.
Use $redop to explain how Redop plugins add typed request context.
Use $redop to explain when I should scaffold with create-redop-app instead of installing @redopjs/redop directly.
