Android development skills — 84

This collection contains all 84 proposed skills across 12 categories. The skill instructions, this overview and the category catalog are written in English.

Contents

  • 84 separate directories with SKILL.md, YAML metadata and agents/openai.yaml.
  • 84 domain-specific reference files at references/field-notes.md.
  • 7 helper Python scripts using the standard library.
  • GitHub Actions workflows for validation and release packaging.
  • Regression tests for helper scripts, metadata validation and release archives.

Installation in Codex

Clone this repository or extract a release archive. Copy the desired skill directories directly into the skills directory under CODEX_HOME, if set. The default paths are:

  • Linux/macOS: ~/.codex/skills//SKILL.md
  • Windows: %USERPROFILE%.codex\skills<skill-name>\SKILL.md

Keep agents/, references/ and scripts/ alongside SKILL.md. Do not add an extra directory level around a skill. If a skill with the same name already exists, compare versions before replacing it. Root-level scripts/, tests/, .github/ and this overview are repository tooling and do not need to be installed as skills. Refresh your Codex session after installation. Invoke a skill by name, such as $develop-jetpack-compose, or through a relevant task. Each skill is standalone and does not depend on other skills in this collection.

Validation and CI

The helper scripts require Python 3.10 or later. CI uses Python 3.14 and runs on Linux, Windows and macOS for pushes, pull requests and manual dispatches. It checks Python lint, types and syntax, validates skill metadata and local Markdown links, builds a release ZIP from tracked files and runs the regression tests.

Run the same checks from a repository checkout:

python3 -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate

On Windows, use python or py -3 instead of python3, then activate with PowerShell:

.venv\Scripts\Activate.ps1

With the environment active:

python -m pip install -r requirements-ci.txt
ruff check
pyright --warnings
python -B scripts/release_skills.py --output dist/android-skills.zip
python -B -m unittest discover -s tests -v

New skill resources must be staged with git add before packaging, because only tracked files are included. The skill scripts read local data; they do not run Gradle, control devices or publish applications.

Publishing a GitHub release runs the release workflow, validates the skills and uploads android-skills.zip. The archive contains the README and standalone skill directories; CI tooling, tests, hidden files and generated artifacts are excluded.

Validation limits

Structure and local links are validated for all 84 skills. The seven scripts are tested with synthetic fixtures containing valid and invalid data. The practical examples do not constitute a complete Android project. Android builds, UI tests and physical-device checks have not been run for these examples. Verify support for specific Android APIs and current app store policies when using the skills.
