Alacritty and yabai settings have been removed because these applications are no longer installed on this Mac.
Run the following commands from the repository root. Review the resulting Git diff before committing.
Regenerate the package inventory from the current installation:
brew bundle dump --file=Brewfile --force --formula --cask --tap --no-describeThis replaces the Brewfile with installed formulae, casks, and taps. VS Code extensions and tools installed through other package managers are managed separately. A Brewfile records packages to install; it does not guarantee that their exact installed versions can be restored.
make backup-aiRequires Python 3.11 or newer. The script reads explicitly selected files and
settings from HOME and regenerates the snapshots in backups/ai/. It does not
modify the source settings. See the AI backup guide for
selection rules, exclusions, and restoration instructions.
Third-party japanese-tech-writing content is excluded from the backup. Use the
on-demand download instructions
to place it in the required skill directories.
Update these files manually from their corresponding locations under HOME.
Keep the Zinit installer-generated initialization block out of the backed-up
.zshrc; the installer recreates that block.
OrbStack shell/SSH integration and LM Studio CLI PATH entries are also excluded.
Let their setup procedures add those entries after restoring the manual
settings. .bashrc is omitted because it had no custom settings after removing
the generated LM Studio block.
VS Code user settings come from
~/Library/Application Support/Code/User/settings.json and keybindings.json.
The repository's .vscode/extensions.json contains extension recommendations,
rather than a copy of the installed extension registry.
Install the required applications and tools first. To install the packages in the Brewfile:
brew bundle install --file=BrewfileCompare the saved settings with the destination files and back up existing
files before applying changes. Restore shell and .config/ files to their
corresponding paths under HOME. Install Zinit so that its initialization is
present before adding the saved .zshrc content.
For VS Code, copy settings.json and keybindings.json into the user settings
directory above, and install the desired recommended extensions. Restore AI
settings according to their dedicated guide.
Some settings contain absolute paths or permissions specific to this Mac. Adjust them for the destination machine. Restoration is manual; there is no automatic setup or restore target.
