Static site for the FROOT Lab (Prof. Alan Zaoxing Liu), Department of Computer Science, University of Maryland.
This replaces the site's previous WordPress install. No build step, no server-side code — just plain HTML/CSS/JS, so anyone can edit a page and open a pull request.

Each page is plain HTML — open the file, find the relevant <article class="card"> block, and copy/edit/add blocks as needed. Comments in projects.html, publications.html, and team.html show the pattern to repeat for new entries.
Append a BibTeX entry to assets/data/publications.bib; the Publications page renders it automatically, grouped by year (newest first) and in file order within a year. Standard fields are used as-is (title, author, year, booktitle/journal, url for the paper link). Optional extras: venue (short display name, e.g. {USENIX NSDI}), code (repo link), blog (write-up link), note (status text such as {To appear}), and award (shown on its own line). The citation key becomes the entry's anchor, e.g. publications.html#r2cc.
Each entry also takes a category (comma-separated research topics, primary first, e.g. {Network Telemetry, Security \& Privacy}), which feeds the page's Category filter and the clickable tags under each paper; reuse the existing labels exactly. The page can also be filtered by search text, type (conference/journal/preprint) and year, and a filtered view can be linked, e.g. publications.html?cat=network-telemetry&year=2024.
To give a paper a thumbnail, save an image as assets/img/publications/<citation key>.jpg (16:10, about 640×400) and add image = {assets/img/publications/<citation key>.jpg} to its entry. Entries without one show a placeholder with the venue and year.
The page fetches the .bib file, so it must be served over HTTP (the local preview below works; opening the file directly does not).
From this directory:

Then open http://localhost:8000 in a browser.
Upload the contents of this directory to the web root (public_html) of the hosting account. There is nothing to build — copy the files as-is.
