Lab-Linux — practice target

The deliberately vulnerable machine used in the SKEMA × ESIEA MSc Cybersecurity systems-security labs. The lab instructions are in the course slides — this repo holds only the Dockerfile that builds the target.

⚠️ In-lab use only. This machine is intentionally insecure. Never expose it to a network you do not fully control. See LICENSE.

Run it (two commands)

git clone https://github.com/Cyber-Courses/Lab-Linux.git && cd Lab-Linux
docker build -t target .
docker run -it --rm target # you start as 'student' — your goal is root
  • Login is student / Training2026!; you begin as that user.
  • Need a root shell instead (instructor): docker run -it --rm target bash
  • Broke it? Exit and docker run again — --rm makes it fresh every time.
  • No git? Use the green Code → Download ZIP button.

Hosting one shared instance (browser-only students)

docker run -d --rm -p 2222:22 --name target target
# students:  ssh -p 2222 student@<host>     (password: Training2026!)

What's inside

A stock Ubuntu 22.04 with three privilege-escalation paths and a few audit findings planted for the labs. Figuring out what and where is the exercise — follow the slides.
