ROVER Workspaces

Save, organize, and restore browser workspaces with groups and tabs arranged the way you work.

Visit the ROVER beta product site or its documentation hub for branded guides, feature status, change history, and the roadmap. Public Markdown in this repository is the maintained source for those pages.

ROVER Workspaces is in development for Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. Store availability has not been announced. This repository contains public product documentation; application source and development history remain private.

Documentation

  • User guide: step-by-step installation, workspace management, import/export, appearance, privacy, and support guidance.
  • Prioritized roadmap: future improvements and release gates.
  • Capability status: implemented local features, tested contracts, staging, and remaining live integration gates.
  • Brand guidelines: shared logo, acronym, typography, colors, and navigation.
  • Website development: shared page layout, checks, and beta deployment.
  • About ROVER Workspaces: ownership, privacy, and product boundaries.
  • Release notes: changes in development builds.
  • Appearance: styles, colors, and browser theme limitations.
  • Import guide: copy, replace, merge, and conflict protection.
  • Full local backup: retain collections, favorites, appearance, templates, and revisions; preview replacement before recovery.
  • Release process: CI, packages, acceptance, versioning, and recovery.
  • Privacy and data handling: local records, permissions, exports, and deletion.
  • License statement: permitted use, reserved application rights, and ownership of your data.
  • Support: reporting problems without exposing private workspace data.
  • How it works: a beginner-friendly overview of the extension and its tooling.
  • Hosting plan: the planned public site, docs site, and private admin boundaries.
  • Pricing: planned Free, Pro Local, and Pro Sync access and trial disclosure.
  • Beta setup checklist: owner setup for local beta testing, identity providers, backups, and admin protection.
  • Trial and subscription terms: pre-release cancellation, refund, renewal, and promotional-access terms.
  • Store listing preparation: draft descriptions, permission explanations, and reviewer test steps; not submitted.

Current capabilities

  • Capture browser windows, tabs, pinned tabs, and tab groups.
  • Create and edit workspaces with nested groups, drag-and-drop ordering, and keyboard controls.
  • Restore saved workspaces into new windows without closing existing tabs.
  • Import and export JSON or YAML, with tabs nested inside their groups.
  • Combine workspaces with a preview and optional duplicate removal.
  • Create workspaces from starter templates or add templates to existing workspaces.
  • Organize with favorites and collections; revisit recently opened workspaces.
  • Choose Clean/Modern styles, system/light/dark colors, custom accents, and density.
  • Use group emojis, local previews, and manager keyboard shortcuts.

Features have automated coverage; live Chrome and Edge acceptance testing remains a release gate. Roadmap items are plans, not delivery commitments.

Please do not include private workspace exports, browsing history, credentials, or sensitive URLs in public issues.
