Device: Apollo MSR-2
Apollo firmware: 26.7.14.1
ESPHome: 2026.6.5
After a cold boot/power cycle, all LD2410 gate threshold number entities (g0-g8 move/still thresholds) are displayed as 0.
The parameters are NOT lost from the LD2410 itself.
I verified this by changing g4 move threshold from the factory default 20 to 39.
Reproduction:
- Factory reset the radar.
- Query Params shows the expected factory thresholds.
- Change g4 move threshold to 39.
- Verify that g4 shows 39.
- Remove power from the MSR-2.
- Restore power.
- After boot, all g0-g8 move/still threshold entities show 0.
- The radar itself is operating and detecting targets normally.
- Press Query Params.
- All threshold entities immediately populate with the stored values and g4 move returns to 39.
This demonstrates that the LD2410 retains its configuration across power loss, but ESPHome does not populate the LD2410 parameter entities correctly during cold boot.
Expected behaviour:
After boot, the LD2410 parameter entities should automatically contain the parameters stored in the radar, without requiring the user to press Query Params.
Possible cause:
The initial LD2410 parameter query may occur too early during a cold boot, before the LD2410 is ready to answer. A manual Query Params after boot works reliably.
Possible fix:
Retry/query the LD2410 parameters a few seconds after startup if the initial query does not successfully populate the entities.
A simple MSR-2 workaround could be a delayed Query Params after boot (for example 3-5 seconds). A retry mechanism in the ESPHome LD2410 component may be the more general solution.
