Call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8002801c

Hello,

I am trying to install the Tablacus Scripting Control on Windows 11, but when I run the Setup program as Administrator, I get two error messages:

Error accessing OLE registry

The module 'C:\Windows\system32\tcs64.dll' was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8002801c

Does the control need to be updated to work on Windows 11?

That looks like a permissions issue Robert. You may not have full admin rights. I usually open a command window with full admin rights then enter command "regsvr32 tsc64.dll"

I have tested tsc64.dll on Windows 11 and it works just fine.
BTW - Def. worth getting the latest version as Gaku has made some great improvements on error reporting.

Thanks for your reply Charlie. Unfortunately, it's not a permissions issue - I do have full admin rights, and I've run the regsvr32 command as Administrator.

It's helpful to know that tsc64.dll works on your version of Windows 11 because my version of Windows 11 is rather unusual - I'm actually running Windows 11 on an ARM processor. In principle, this should not make any difference because the ARM version is capable of running x64 binaries, but the control may depend on the processor type in some way.

I'd be happy to try and debug the issue, but it's not obvious how to build the control with Visual Studio - in particular, I get the error

Error | C1083 | Cannot open type library file: 'msscript.ocx': No such file or directory

from line 8 of tcs64.h

#import <msscript.ocx>

I've tried adding C:\Windows\SysWOW64 to the include path, but this results in another error:

Error | RC2135 | file not found: x64\Release\tsc64.tlb

Can anyone help?

I've had a look at the registry entries created by DllRegisterServer - it looks as though the call to RegisterTypeLib at line 1446 of tcs64.c is failing. All of the registry entries prior to that point in the code have been created, but no TypeLib entry is created.

Does that help to narrow down the problem?
